What you'll do

In this lab, you will configure your Git environment and then create and test an alias.

  1. Create a local .gitignore file to manage which files are tracked, add rules to the file, and test to ensure it is working
  2. Test the "already tracked" scenario
  3. Explore global vs. local git configuration settings and modify local settings
  4. Create a global ignore file with OS metadata ignore rules

Note: Once you begin the lab, you will not be able to pause, save, or return to your lab. Please ensure that you have set aside enough time to complete the lab before you start.
